Fabrice Muamba is an English footballer born on April 6, 1988 in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly, Zaire). At the age of 11, he moved to England along with his family. He studied at Kelmscott School, Walthamstow, where he managed to take A-levels, though he was unable to speak English.
Fabrice Muamba is eligible to play for any Home Nations, being a naturalized British citizen. He has played for England at all under-age levels and has even captained the Under-19 team. He made his Under-21 debut against Romania on August 21, 2007 as a second half substitute at Ashton Gate, Bristol.
Fabrice Muamba came into the limelight while playing in the school football team in Waltham Forest and northeast London. Soon he was picked by Arsenal, and was associated with its youth system from 2002, before joining its Academy as a first-year scholar in 2004.
Fabrice Muamba signed his first professional contract in October 2005 and made his debut in the league on October 25, 2005 in a tie against Sunderland Football Club at the Stadium of Light.
Fabrice Muamba went to Birmingham City in August 2006 on loan for a season. His remarkable performance during 2006 impressed Birmingham manager Alex McLeish, who made Fabrice Muamba a regular starter in the central midfield. He was also chosen as the Young Player of the Season by the fans. On May 11, 2007 he made his move permanent by signing a three-year contract for a fee of £4 million. His first goal for the club came on March 12 2008 in the form of a close-range volley from the corner.
Fabrice Muamba moved to Bolton Wanderers by signing a four-year contract on June 16, 2008 for a fee of £5 million with add-ons worth approximately £750,000.
A midfielder himself, Fabrice Muamba regards the French midfielder Patrick Vieira as his role model and has modeled his game on his energetic style of play.
